ATS 1.2 Update is Here

- April 12, 2016 at 9:17pm

Yesterday, SCS pushed the ATS 1.2 update to the public branch after a longer than usual public beta period. All players should now have access to the Steam Workshop. SCS also published a brief video showing how to manage workshop mods:

Please watch that video before asking for help installing/uninstalling workshop mods. It covers the basics.

Scot A2HD and New Resources Feature

Scot A2HD preview imageScot A2HD Released

I'm pleased to announce that my first standalone truck mod for American Truck Simulator – the Scot A2HD – was released just after midnight Saturday without any major hiccoughs. There are a couple of very minor things that I will be addressing with an update today or tomorrow:

  • 'Belt Line' paintjob no longer resets when purchasing from dealer (stock attribute removed)
  • Camera definitions changed to standalone
  • Seat adjustment limit expanded to permit sitting further back
  • Sound 'accessories' now defined per engine family to allow stable use of sound mods
    • I'll publish a brief guide on how to make use of this
  • Fixed (harmless) error regarding empty.tobj.

Resources

I've also introduced a new feature to the website: Resources! Now, mods on SCR can have resources associated with them, such as paint templates, modding guides, developer kits, and anything else that modders might need in order to work with a particular mod. The first such resource is the paint template for the Scot A2HD. You can see that here.

I still have some work to do on the list view so that it's apparent which mods have resources or other additional content. There are some other, related features I want to finish and roll out at the same time, so it might be a little while before that's ready.

ATS 1.2 and Steam Workshop

- April 7, 2016 at 10:53am

By now, I imagine that most if not all players are aware of the upcoming 1.2 update for American Truck Simulator. It's been in public beta for a couple weeks now and includes, among other things, support for Steam Workshop. Anyone who has looked at the current Workshop offerings may have noticed that I have some mods/updated versions on there which do not appear on the main website. This doesn't mean that I'm dropping support for the main site. The mods I am currently developing are only compatible with ATS v1.2 and higher, so I'm limiting them to Workshop for now until the 1.2 update comes to the public branch of the game. I will be offering my mods in both Workshop and conventional formats for the foreseeable future.

I've also been working on a couple under the hood changes to the website to better integrate Workshop. The first of these changes is that any Workshop-enabled mods on this site will have a link to their Workshop page. Down the road, I want to make use of the Steam API to synchronize some of the download stats and allow registered users to (un)subscribe to mods directly through the main website. There's a lot of coding and testing to do before that comes to fruition, but I think it will be a worthwhile addition nonetheless.

Surprise!

SCS confirmed that they are releasing American Truck Simulator ahead of their February 3 release date. This means that the game should be launched around 6pm EST today!

Just one of those days...

- January 5, 2016 at 12:10am

The download pages are currently down. I launched some of the new features I've been working on and apparently my host's php installation is a little less recent/thorough than what I have on my test server.

I have a support ticket open, and hopefully it's a simple fix on their end. Otherwise, I'll have to rewrite a lot of code. Either way, I intend to have things working by the end of the day Tuesday.

Update: Still no luck reaching a permanent solution, but I do have all the important things working again.
